Sparkling and Plaid

Necklace - Urban Outfitters, Flannel - AE, Vest - AE, Boots - Nordstrom

Sweet.  My second outfit post in one week.  Who's good? :)  Anyways, enough gloating... back to my blog!  I've found another way to wear my necklace!  I told you its amazingly versatile.  See I'm bringing the bling bling into the rugged grunge.  And it feels so great to get your money's worth.  Maybe this New Year, I'll start making smarter fashion choices.  Haha my New Years resolution list is getting longer by the moment.  This is what I have so far:

1) Don't procrastinate/endlessly surf through blogs/Facebook stalk/etc.  (and hopefully this will lead to good grades, good SAT score, all that good stuff)
2) Talk back less.  This mainly concerns me and my parents.
3) Make smarter fashion choices (money wise, closet wise, etc.)
4) Stay organized.  Don't let clutter take over my life!
5) Take adventurous risks with fashion.

Let's hope I can stick to at least one...

P.S. My brother wants me to mention that he was the super awesome photographer who took these shots.  Happy now, Trevor?

The eve of Christmas Eve

Top - Banana Republic, Skirt - J. Crew, Shoes - Doc Martens, Belt - H&M

Boy oh boy does time fly fast.  There are two more days till Christmas!  Cue the presents, the food, the family, the fun!  Okay that last line bordered corny a little too much, but whatever - I'm excited.  Nothing will stop me from enjoying my Christmas this year... not the lame White Elephant (exchanging the usual cousin gift exchange), or any annoying relatives or even my wisdom teeth.

One of my favorite parts about the holiday season is dressing up.  During the school days, I rarely get to explore and adventure past the regular old polo and cords, so the holidays are a lovely treat.  That should be one of my New Year's resolutions... be more adventurous when it comes to dress code.  Live a little Caitlin!  Don't worry about getting a detention! :)

Anyways, back on the subject of fashion, here's a recent holiday outfit of mine.  As you can tell, I loveee my simple black tees and tights.  They're definitely key staples in my wardrobe.

A peek at my wishlist

Well it never is too late for a wish list.  Even though Christmas is quickly approaching, I can still look ahead to other holidays... like my birthday and Easter (that counts right?)!!

1) I really do need some oxfords.  Like desperately.  I'm eying this Free People pair...

2) Numero dos: duck boots! How awesome are these... (also from Free People)? Perfect for puddle jumping!

 3) A velvet dress. Urban Outfitters has a great long-sleeved textured one.  I'm still waiting for a better sale though. Hurry hurry hurry...

A very merry Chrismukkah

Top - Banana Republic, Skirt - ASOS, Shoes - Nordstrom Rack, Necklace - Urban Outfitters

A couple days ago, my friend, Hannah (right), and I (left) hosted a Chrismukkah party.  Inspired by the most amazing Seth Cohan from The OC, this party was a perfect balance between Christmas and Hanukkah.  Hannah brought the Hanukkah and I brought the Christmas.  With lots of planning, cooking, and decorating, it ended up being the first successful Chrismukkah, with many more to follow.  For dinner, there were challah (Holla!!) bread, matzoh ball soup, Caesar salad, beef brisket, and latkes.  By the time dinner was over, each of the guests had a bright smile and a very very content tummy.

The rest of the night followed with a game or two of dreidel, a White Elephant gift exchange (lucky me got a Bob Marley wig), lots of dancing (Gaby took out the competition during the rap contest), and of course cookie decorating.  Tim Lincecum was blessed enough to be cookie-fied by my friend Rena.  She's a fan.

Since this IS a fashion blog, I suppose I should mention something about what I wore.  As you can see, I wore just a simple black top, a simple black polka dot skirt, black tights, and a super duper shiny necklace.  I am absolutely in love with the necklace.  You can actually wear it with anything... a white tee, flannel shirt, dresses, jean jackets.  ANYTHING!  You'll definitely be seeing more of that necklace in the future.  Unfortunately, we are painting my room right now and it's kind of MIA. Cross your fingers that it will show up in the future.

Let the blogging begin!

So basically, it's Christmas break and I'm lying (or laying?) in bed rather bored.  I'm avoiding any school homework and SAT studying. But seriously, give me a break- all four of my wisdom teeth were pulled yesterday... Anyways, I've been planning on creating a blog for a while now, so this definitely seems like the perfect time!  I have no idea how I'm supposed to start off this blog.  Word of advice: It's much harder to come up with clever one-liners when you're on Vicodin.

I'm Caitlin, a 16 years old girl, just trying to make it through two more years of high school.  The three main things that keep me sane are my family, my friends, and fashion.  On a side note, I also like listening to music, swimming, drawing, scrap-booking, and writing.  But back to fashion.  I try really really REALLY hard not be toooo obsessed with fashion.  It's quite a challenge though!  I mean just check my Internet history.  I've spent hours at a time either shopping online, scavenging through blogs, or researching celebrities.  It's kind of to the point of ridiculousness.  Yeah maybe a blog isn't the best idea... but TOO LATE NOW! :)
